Arrival at Yinchuan airport should not be after 10:00 in the morning, as we have to have our Chinese driving licenses issued together that afternoon. We organize a shuttle to Zouqi. In Zouqi we will complete these formalities together.
If the arrival at Yinchuan airport is after 10:00 in the morning, we ask you to arrive 1 day earlier to ensure that we can all complete the formalities together in the afternoon.
In the evening we will meet for a welcome briefing and you will receive the most important information for the next few days.
Our first highlight is a little-known section of the Great Wall of China from the Ming Dynasty. We experience this historic site up close on off-road tracks before heading through valleys and along gravel roads towards the desert and the famous "Five Lakes". We spend the night in a desert camp right next to the mystical red lake, the "heart of the earth".
Spectacular trails along the Helan Mountains await us today. We pass through an impressive landscape of gravel and sand paths and enjoy a traditional Mongolian lunch with a local family. In the afternoon, the route takes us through a dry riverbed to the industrial town of Jilantai on the edge of the Ulan Buh desert.
We continue north on on- and off-road tracks. After a break at a local farmhouse with typical Suutei Tsai tea, we explore the "West Dreamy Valley" with its bizarre rock formations. In the evening we reach Aolunbulage, where a rest day awaits us.
The day is dedicated to cultural discoveries: We visit the Rengenfeng Scenic Area with its famous Shengen mountain formation and the secluded Aguimiao Temple, a spiritual jewel in the Langshan Mountains. The evening ends in a relaxed atmosphere in the village.
Today takes us through the endless expanse of the Ulan Buh desert. After a stop at Alashan-Agate Lake, where with a bit of luck we can collect the rare agate stones, the day ends in the camp of Yin Gen, a small town with Mongolian charm.
Today we are on the road heading south until lunch. We then travel on off-road tracks through a dry riverbed to the ancient Stone Carvings in the UNESCO Global Geopark near Alateng'Aobaozhen. After a guided hike through the desert, we spend the night in a hotel directly in the park.
Today we make our way back to Zouqi. The route begins with gravel roads, takes us through vast steppe landscapes and ends with a final stretch of on-road track that once again shows us the vastness of the Mongolian landscape. A farewell dinner together rounds off the adventure.
After breakfast, we take the shuttle back to Yinchuan Airport. The journey takes about 1.5 hours. The return flight should be booked accordingly.
